"Bateyes" celebrates the beauty of the communities of Barahona, Dominican Republic. The Bateyes are communities of Haitian decent on the south western side of the island. It is home to the Larimar mines and it is where sugar cane is cultivated. My collection not only uses materials from the island but also my talent and love for painting to illustrate the physical beauty of the area.
